Terms & Conditions

Welcome to Sweet from Scratch! These Terms & Conditions exist to ensure a smooth, transparent experience for both of us. By placing an order or booking an event, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to the following policies. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions before booking.

1.  Booking & Payment

1.1     Retainer / Deposit. A 50% non-refundable retainer is required to secure your date on our calendar. Submitting an inquiry does not constitute a confirmed booking. Your order is officially confirmed only upon receipt of the deposit and a written confirmation from Sweet from Scratch.

1.2     Order Minimums. We reserve the right to establish minimum order values or quantities based on order type. Current minimums, if applicable, will be communicated at the time of inquiry.

1.3     Final Balance. The remaining balance is due in full at the time of pickup, delivery, or at the start of your event. Orders will not be released, or event will not commence, until payment is complete.

1.4     Accepted Payment Methods. We accept cash, Venmo, and major credit cards. Please note that credit card payments may be subject to a 3% processing fee.

1.5     Peak Season & Holiday Orders. During high-demand periods (holidays, wedding season, etc.), extended lead times and larger deposit requirements may apply. These will be communicated clearly at the time of inquiry.

2.  Cancellations, Rescheduling, & Revisions

2.1    Non-Refundable Deposit. Because every order is custom-made and ingredients and supplies are sourced specifically for your order, all deposits are non-refundable under any circumstances, including cancellation by the customer. We strongly recommend reviewing your order details carefully before submitting your deposit.

2.2     Customer Cancellations.

  • Cancellations made more than 14 days before the pickup/delivery date will forfeit the deposit only; no additional charges will apply.

  • Cancellations made within 14 days of the pickup/delivery date may be subject to the full remaining balance, as ingredients and labor will have already been committed.

2.3     Cancellation by Sweet from Scratch. In the rare event that Sweet from Scratch must cancel your order due to circumstances beyond our control (see Section 7, Force Majeure), you will receive a full refund of all payments made, including the deposit. This is the extent of our liability in such situations.

2.4     Rescheduling. If you need to move your order date, please contact us as soon as possible. We will make every effort to accommodate your new date based on availability, but rescheduling is not guaranteed. Rescheduling requests made within 7 days of the original date may not be possible.

2.5     Order Revisions. Changes to design, flavor, size, or quantity must be requested in writing at least 7 days prior to your scheduled pickup or delivery date. We cannot guarantee that last-minute changes can be accommodated. Approved revisions may result in a price adjustment, which must be paid in full before the order is released.

2.6     Satisfaction & Complaints. Your satisfaction matters deeply to us. In the rare event that you are unhappy with your order, please notify us within 24 hours of receipt with photos documenting the concern. We will work with you in good faith to find a reasonable resolution. Please note that we do not offer refunds or replacements for change of mind, personal taste preferences, or any damage resulting from improper storage or handling after pickup or delivery.

3.  Pickup, Delivery, & Transport

3.1    Our Location. Sweet from Scratch is a licensed residential kitchen bakery located in Belmont, MA. The specific pickup address will be provided upon order confirmation and is not publicly listed.

3.2     Pickup. Please arrive at your agreed-upon pickup time. If you anticipate being more than 15 minutes late, please notify us as soon as possible. We will hold orders for up to 45 minutes past the scheduled pickup time; after that, we will contact you to arrange an alternative time based on our availability. Sweet from Scratch is not responsible for quality degradation due to late or missed pickups.

3.3     Delivery. Delivery fees are based on distance from our Belmont location. Orders delivered within 4 miles are eligible for complimentary delivery on qualifying orders. A flat fee of $50 applies to deliveries between 4 and 10 miles. For locations beyond 10 miles, a custom delivery rate will be provided upon request. Delivery is subject to our schedule and must be arranged in advance. We cannot guarantee specific delivery windows but will communicate an estimated time of arrival.

3.4     Order Care & Transfer of Responsibility. Once an order has been picked up or accepted at delivery, Sweet from Scratch is not responsible for any damage resulting from improper transport, heat exposure, dropping, or mishandling. By accepting the order, the customer assumes full responsibility for its care.

Tip: Always transport baked goods on a flat surface, in a temperature-controlled vehicle, away from direct sunlight. Never place orders on a car seat.

4.  Dietary Safety & Allergen Information

4.1    Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free Kitchen. Sweet from Scratch operates as a 100% gluten-free and dairy-free kitchen under strict Celiac-safe standards. All products are prepared with this commitment in mind.

⚠️ Important: Some of our yeasted breads use deglutened wheat starch, an ingredient certified safe for individuals with Celiac disease but not safe for those with a wheat allergy or wheat sensitivity. Please disclose any wheat allergy at the time of ordering. ⚠️

4.2     Other Allergens. We do our best to accommodate egg-free, corn-free, and other dietary needs upon request. However, our kitchen is not a nut-free environment. While we take every reasonable precaution to prevent cross-contact, we cannot guarantee that any product is 100% free of trace allergens. Customers with severe or life-threatening allergies place orders at their own risk.

4.3     Residential Kitchen Disclosure. As required by Massachusetts law, please be advised: This food is made in a residential kitchen that is licensed and inspected by the Belmont Board of Health under the Massachusetts Residential Kitchen (Home Processor) license. It is not subject to the same inspection frequency or regulatory requirements as a licensed commercial food establishment.

5.  Wholesale & Wholesale Accounts

5.1     Wholesale Eligibility. Sweet from Scratch may offer wholesale supply to qualifying local businesses (cafes, restaurants, retailers) at our discretion, subject to our current production capacity and applicable Massachusetts residential kitchen licensing requirements.

5.2     Wholesale Terms. Wholesale clients are subject to separate written agreements that govern minimum order quantities, pricing, lead times, and delivery terms. These Terms & Conditions apply as a baseline; the wholesale agreement governs in the event of any conflict.

5.3     Wholesale Payment. Wholesale orders require payment in full prior to production unless a net-payment arrangement has been established in a signed wholesale agreement.

5.4     Wholesale Labeling. All wholesale products will be labeled in compliance with Massachusetts cottage food and residential kitchen labeling requirements, including the required residential kitchen disclosure statement.

6.  Custom Design, Artistic Integrity, & Media Rights

6.1     Creative License. Reference photos and inspiration images are used as a creative guide only. Because every item is handmade, Sweet from Scratch does not guarantee an exact replica of any third-party design, photo, or another baker's work. You can expect a beautiful, original creation made in the Sweet from Scratch style and executed with care and skill.

6.2     Our Photography Rights. You are welcome and encouraged to photograph and share your Sweet from Scratch order! By tagging us on social media, you grant Sweet from Scratch a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to reshare your content with appropriate credit.

7.  Force Majeure

Sweet from Scratch shall not be held liable for failure to fulfill an order due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to illness or medical emergency, severe weather, supply chain disruption, power outage, or other unforeseen events. In such cases, we will notify you as soon as possible and issue a full refund of all payments received.

8.  Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In the event of a dispute, both parties agree to first attempt resolution in good faith through direct communication. Sweet from Scratch's total liability in any dispute shall not exceed the total amount paid for the order in question.
